Beneath A Mexican Sky
As an award-winning garden designer in the UK, Manoj Maldé approached this RHS Chelsea Flower Show garden as more than a design exercise — it was a story waiting to be told. Inspired by the life and work of Luis Barragán, the challenge was to translate bold colour, cultural depth, and emotional resonance into a contemporary courtyard garden design. The concept needed to feel immersive yet refined, balancing architectural form with planting and symbolism.
Through a bespoke garden design approach, Manoj introduced vibrant coloured walls, a reflective water feature, and sculptural elements that created both structure and softness. Drought-tolerant planting added resilience and texture, while layered materials guided visitors through the space. The result was a deeply evocative garden — one that transported visitors, invited reflection, and demonstrated how colour, culture, and garden design can come together to create something truly unforgettable.
