Sacred Hearts School Battersea

This project in Battersea, London, began with a simple yet powerful intention — to transform an underwhelming school garden into a vibrant, meaningful space for children who had limited access to green environments at home. The challenge was to create a garden that felt both functional and inspiring, supporting wellbeing, learning, and everyday interaction with nature, while adapting an existing RHS Chelsea Flower Show garden into a completely new setting.

As a London-based garden designer, Manoj Maldé carefully reimagined the space, retaining key elements while reshaping them to suit the needs of the school. Thoughtful zoning, biodiverse planting, and layered materials created a garden that feels both playful and calming. The result is a welcoming outdoor sanctuary — a space where children and staff can connect with nature, feel uplifted, and experience the everyday joy of being surrounded by a beautifully designed garden.
